We, the PTO Executive Board, are proud of our school and its commitment to our children's total educational experience. We extend an open invitation to you and your families to participate and share in the many functions and special activities that we have each year. As a parent of a Gearing student, you are automatically a member of the Gearing PTO. It's because of our parent's dedication that these activities are possible. Please plan to join us at our meetings on the designated Monday evening each month. All meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. in the media center. Childcare is provided at no cost to you. We are always open for new ideas. We look forward to your active involvement. The Milton J. Gearing Parent Teacher Organization would like to take this opportunity to share with you the many programs and activities the PTO provides to the staff, students, and families of Gearing Elementary. Take a moment to read about some of our most popular programs and activities.
Fall Fund-raiser This is our primary fundraising event. With these funds, we are able to provide support for the numerous activities that include, but are not limited to, classroom allocations, assembly performances, field day ribbons, and field trip transportation.
Ice Cream Social This event is a terrific, old-fashioned social gathering. It's an opportunity to scoop up delicious ice cream with plenty of toppings, to have relaxing conversations with family and friends, and to visit with staff and other families at Gearing.
Book Fair Each year we host a fall book fair. Staff, students, and Gearing families have an opportunity to browse and purchase books at reasonable prices. Proceeds from this event are forwarded to the Gearing Media Center for the purchase of additional media materials.
"JINGLE BELL JUNCTION" Our annual Holiday Gift Shop gives students the opportunity to shop secretly in a safe environment for those on that special gift list. Parent volunteers guide shoppers as they select that "perfect" gift at a reasonable price.
Gearing Gator Carnival The carnival has truly become an evening of exciting family fun! A variety of games and activities are set up throughout the school. These games and events have included the limbo, pop can toss, gator pond, and the ever-popular cake and candy bar walks.
Additional PTO -Sponsored Events Staff and Bus Driver Appreciation, Fifth grade end-of-year celebration, assemblies, Field Day, and much more.
