Methods
of Grading
Several
methods of grading optional to instructor (credit for complete attempt,
random check, initials for complete attempt/complete notes, straight
grade.)
Term
Grade Determination
Points
Earned / Points Possible at time of term report
Semester
Grade Calculation
Both
marking periods will be worth 40% and the semester exam will value 20%
of the final semester grade. Semester grade is calculated by percentages
earned. Students must pass two of the three to receive credit for the
semester.
Daily
Assignments
10-20 pts.
Major
Written Papers / Projects
50-100 pts.
Quizzes
10-40 pts.
Tests/Exams
50-100
pts.
Issues
of Credit
Do
not plan on incomplete or late work getting consideration for credit of
any sort. Just turning work
in does not constitute points. Quality
work is expected.
Grades
posted approximately every two weeks on-line (student-connect /
parent-connect), allowing students to monitor
progress, check for discrepancies and/or missing assignments.
Missing
work due to excused absence? Interested
in rewriting a major paper? Once
grades posted, students have until next posting to get work turned in to
instructor. After this time
frame, no adjustments will be made.
Extra
Credit opportunities are instructor’s option not the student’s
right. Extra Credit to be
posted includes local/professional theatre, approved writing
contests/literary magazine, cultural expansion opportunities, community
service. Individual EC
opportunities are not available.
Save
yourself from future disappointment and assume you have homework every
night. There are always
several things in the works, so students will have choices to make
during class, as well as deciding what should be taken home.
